Demaryius Thomas Death: What Happened To NFL Star?

Demaryius Thomas Death

Demaryius Thomas Death

According to an autopsy report from the Fulton County (Georgia) Medical Examiner’s office, former Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas passed away from “complications of a seizure disorder.” On Friday, ESPN received parts of the report. At 33, Thomas died in his Roswell, Georgia, home on December 9. The next day, an autopsy was carried out.

What Is The Cause Of Demaryius Thomas’s Death?

In December, the medical examiner’s office declared that “lab tests and microscopic tissue samples must be finished before the cause and manner of death can be determined.” According to the medical examiner’s final report, Thomas’s cause of death is still uncertain.

It is unclear if his seizure disorder was brought on by natural causes or head injuries sustained during his NFL career. Thomas had chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disorder, according to researchers at Boston University who spoke to ABC News last month.

However, they insisted that CTE was not the cause of Thomas’ passing. The same experts stated in the autopsy report that they did not think Thomas’ CTE was the root cause of the seizure problem. Thomas, discovered dead in the shower, tested positive for nicotine and marijuana traces. However, the autopsy report cited neither substance as a cause of death.

Some of Thomas’ family members claimed in the media at the time of his passing that he had been experiencing seizures for about a year before passing away. At that time, other former teammates also claimed that Thomas had disclosed that he had been experiencing attacks recently.

Thanks to his signature smile and constant desire to assist those in need, Thomas was one of the franchise’s most well-liked athletes in the neighborhood. Denver and the NFL were both shocked by his demise.

Thomas, who would have been 34 on Christmas, had revealed in a little video that he would be leaving the NFL in June 2021 while giving the peace sign and grinning. Tim Tebow was the other first-round pick made by the Broncos in the 2010 NFL Draft, and Thomas played for the organization for nine seasons.

Behind Rod Smith, he concluded his career as the Broncos’ second-leading receiver with 9,055 yards. He has 655 catches, which places him behind Smith and Shannon Sharpe, a Hall of Famer, in franchise history. Thomas has 724 catches for 9,763 yards and 63 touchdowns throughout his ten seasons with the Broncos, Houston Texans, and New York Jets.
