On November 29, 2021, Maxwell’s trial commenced in New York City. The punishment hearing for the disgraced British socialite is set for June 28, 2022, and prosecutors are demanding that she receive a 55-year prison term.
Maxwell has denied responsibility for Jeffrey Epstein’s misdeeds on multiple occasions. Maxwell’s legal team, however, has urged that she should get a light sentence of no more than 20 years in prison. The blame for Epstein’s misdeeds should not fall solely on Maxwell, and she should not have to.”
Conflict arose between the two, “Ms. Maxwell is bracing for a much longer period of incarceration than is typical for pre-trial detainees after having already endured a difficult time during detention under conditions far more onerous and punitive than any experienced by a typical pre-trial detainee. They came to the conclusion, “It was the largest mistake she ever made and she has not and will never repeat it.” On December 29, 2021, a jury convicted Maxwell guilty on five out of six charges.
