The First Official Trailer of Barbie Revealed and it is directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie as the title character has been released by Warner Bros. Although the film’s plot is a closely guarded secret, we do know that Barbie and Ken are thrust into the real world, where Barbie must face the realities of being a woman in the modern world. The film also features Hari Nef and Alexandra Shipp. Gerwig, known for directing Lady Bird and Little Women, also co-wrote the screenplay for this film with Noah Baumbach. ‘Barbie’ was produced under the auspices of Mattel Films, Heyday Films and Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment label in association with Tom Ackerley.
Josey McNamara of LuckyChap and Ynon Kreiz of Mattel are the show’s executive producers. Production on the film started in London in early 2016 and was completed in July. Robbie previously explained the significance of bringing Barbie to the big screen to Marc Malkin of Variety in 2019. She said, “I see this as a chance to be an inspiration to younger kids and to put some good energy into the world.”
