What is the Radkes Plot Exactly?
The six episodes of “The Radkes” all focus on Melissa and her loud and chaotic Southern family, who live in the sleepy East Texas town of Lufkin. Obviously, the matriarch, who has thoughts on every topic, is the star of the show. Even when she isn’t invited, she always seems to be the center of attention at local gatherings.
Melissa’s efforts to help her children through the challenges of middle school are also chronicled throughout the series. For instance, you could have “The Talk” with them about s*xuality and relationships. The funniest part is that she is continually apologizing when she gets into these sticky situations. She gives it to her all but completely bombs her attempt to sing a song about birds and bees at a drive-thru. After giving up, she hands the job on to her Aunt Melba, who had been helping Melissa out.

Melissa and David have a furious dispute after the birds and the bees debacle about who makes the finest brisket. Melissa takes a more chill approach, in contrast to David’s dogged dedication and meticulousness, to the task at hand. Whenever the entire family gets together to make a decision, David’s food always comes out on top.
Melissa is next seen having a talk with Remi, in which she expresses her desire for more honest communication between the two of them. And only then will he be able to connect with his daughter the way he does with his son. Twenty years later, she has little interest in her Aunt Melba’s suggestions and sketches.
