When Will The Queens Gambit Season 2 be available on Netflix?
Not much has been said about a potential season two. From concept to starring Netflix series, it took a long time to get just one season. Initially intending to make a feature film, co-creator Alan Scott became involved with the project before Netflix even existed. “It’s wonderful to know that people loved the show where they want to spend more time with these characters. We never envisioned it that way, William Horberg, the show’s executive producer, told Deadline when asked about a second season.
His further explanation was as follows: To us, the series concluded on a strong note and from there we’ll let the viewers decide what happens to Beth Harmon. Despite Twitter followers’ requests for new content nothing has changed. Scott and I are overjoyed that Beth’s tale is at last over. What Will be the Plot of The Queens Gambit Season 2?
There is no more material to adapt as The Queens Gambit was based on a singular novel. A second season would require new material, but the writers would be free to take the show in any direction they like. What happens after Beth achieves her greatest professional success is an open question. She has finally arrived at the pinnacle of her career, but this only usher in even more disruption into her life.
In an interview Taylor Joy suggested a potential plot point for a future episode, saying, “It would be very interesting to see how Beth would be as a mother, now that she’s sober and more cognizant of the demons that pull her down.” A second season could examine Beth’s shifting priorities in light of her new perspective on her personal relationships and bring her back to the supporting cast that rallied around her during her decisive match.
