Right from the start, the studio was very encouraging. Ash’s new character, Lexi is the privileged heiress of a newspaper empire’s owner and the paper’s new editor. Lexi is comically out of touch with regular people because she grew up in the privileged world of boarding schools and private planes. As a former horse jumper who came close to making it to the Olympics, Lexi has a lot of self-assurance.

To be honest, she’s in over her head and if the newspaper fails, she’ll never be able to gain her father’s approval which she values very highly. The show’s creators and executive producers are Casey Johnson and David Windsor. Gina Rodriguez is joined on the executive producing team by Wonderland Sound and Vision’s McG, Mary Viola, and Corey Marsh. 20th TV, a division of Disney TV Studios is making the show.
