The WNBA star Brittney Griner who was in a Russian prison because of drug charges, got free now. But he is transferred to another prisoner Viktor Bout, who is also a drug dealer. With a high level of security, he is taken to the Kremlin from the U.S.  This news is confirmed by the President himself at the White House, “She’s safe. She’s on a plane.

She’s on her way home,”. “After months of being unjustly detained in Russia, held under intolerable circumstances, Brittney will soon be back in the arms of her loved ones and she should have been there all along. This is a day we’ve worked toward for a long time. We never stopped pushing for her release.”

It was said that she will land in San Antonio, Taxes on Friday. The deal was signed with Moscow in the last few days but was finally approved by the president this week. The president also connected with her by phone, where Griner’s wife Cherelle, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken were present.

Mr. Biden said he was “glad to be able to say Brittney is in good spirits.” He dismissed the “show trial in Russia” and said, “she didn’t ask for special treatment.”

After confirming her security, Biden freed Bout and ordered him to return back to Russia.

Another prisoner Marine Paul Whelan is also in Russia for espionage charges, which were called false by the U.S. government also described by Biden. “We’ve not forgotten about Paul Whelan,” Mr. Biden said Thursday, adding “we will never give up” and tried to release him soon.

It was stated by the U.S. officers that if they talk to release both Griner and Whelan, and exchange off Bout, then we do even not get one.

They said, “a choice between bringing home one particular American — Brittney Griner — or bringing home none.”

Whelan also connected with the phone, who said he is happy for Griner, and  “greatly disappointed that more has not been done to secure my release, especially as the four-year anniversary of my arrest is coming up.”

How were Griner, Whelan and Bout Arrested?

Griner a WNBA star, who is 32 years old, was caught at the airport having cannabis-derived oil in her bag. After a five-month arrangement, The U.S. government signed a deal with Russia, for sending two American prisoners in exchange for two Russian prisoners.

Another prisoner, Whelan, who worked for a corporate security contractor, was in Moscow attending a friend’s wedding when he was caught in 2018. After an espionage charge, he was sentenced to 16 years by the Russian Government. Now he has completed his four years there.

Bout who was in Marion Illinois was arrested from Thailand, after a sting operation in 2008, by the Drug Enforcement Agency. He is responsible for American death and has been sentenced to 25 years 10 years before.

The U.S. escaped its both prisoners and said “wrongfully detained,” and they were using our people as leverage. Before now, the U.S. exchanged Konstantin Yaroshenko, a drug dealer from Russia, with Cocaine, for another American.
