Kirstie Alley, Emmy award winner for ‘Cheers’ actress, dies at the age of 71, on 5 December 2022. It was confirmed by her two children True and Lillie Parker on their mother’s social media account. 

“We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce, and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered,” the statement read.

“She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead,” the family’s statement continued. “As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.”

“Our mother’s zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren, and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and left us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did,” the statement said.

Kirstie was born on 12 January 1951, in Wichita Kansas to Robert Deal Alley and Lillian Alley. Her other two siblings are Colette and Craig. Alley completed her education at Wichita Southeast High School and then entered Kansas State University.

Alley began her professional life in 1982 in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and after then she appeared in several small role films like One More Chance, Blind Date, and Runaway. In 1987, she got her best sitcom Cheers premiered on NBC, in the place of Shelly Long till the final season of the series 1993. In 1988, and 1990 she won two Emmy awards for cheers, and the next year 1991 third award also goes to Alley.

Alley received the motion pictures star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her outstanding contribution to the entertainment industry in 1995. In 1997 she was cast in the NBC sitcom Veronica’s Closet, as an executive producer also. TVLand made a sitcom with Alley and her co-star in Cheers, Rhea Perlman, including Michael Richerds, titled Kirstie. She took part in the 2011, Dancing With the Stars with Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

In 2022, she took part in the seventh season of The Masked Singer as the “Baby mammoth” of Team Cuddly. Her other films are Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Summer School, Shoot to Kill, Look Who’s Talking and its two sequels, Madhouse, Sibling Rivalry, Village of the Damned, It Takes Two, Deconstructing Harry, For Richer or Poorer, and Drop Dead Gorgeous

Kirstie Alley got married in 1970 to her first love Bob Alley, but later in 1983 she again married Parker Stevenson. Because of a mishap with Alley during pregnancy, they adopted William and later adopted another child Lillie, a girl.

She helped me buy onesies for my family that year for Christmas. We agreed to disagree about some things but had mutual respect and connection. Sad news.”

Josh Gad tweeted, “My heart breaks for Kirstie and her family. Whether it was her brilliance in ‘Cheers; or her magnetic performance in the ‘Look Who’s Talking franchise, her smile was always infectious, her laugh was always contagious and her charisma was always iconic. RIP.”

Parker Stevenson, Alley’s first husband from 1983 to 1997 wrote: “Kirstie, I am so grateful for our years together, and for the two incredibly beautiful children and grandchildren that we have. You will be missed.”
