History of the Gamora
The first appearance of the figure was in 1975’s Strange Tales # 180. Gamora was revealed to be Thanos’s daughter, albeit their introduction was different from what was seen in the movies. However, in the films based on the Avengers: Infinity Wars, we saw how Thanos invaded Gamora’s planet and wiped out half the population.
The Zen Whoberi, Gamora’s race, were exterminated by the Baboons in the comic, thus things are different there. A congregation of the Universal Church of Truth, they were. Almost every single member of the Universal Church of Truth was killed by Gamora. As a result, the rest of the group dreaded her. Much later, she ran into Adam Warlock, who was on the lookout for Magus in an effort to stop him.
They form an alliance to defeat Magus, and Gamora manages to infiltrate his ranks. She doesn’t manage to kill him, but she does manage to get away with Adam Warlock and Thanos from Magus’ death agents and the other black knights of the Universal Church of Truth.
After he gets away, Thanos tells Gamora to watch out for Warlock. However, after meeting Drax the Destroyer, Gamora begins to doubt her adoptive father’s sincerity.
The Avengers and Gamora
However, she would momentarily leave the group to go to Earth to help the Avengers. Thanos their biological stepfather was the enemy. Once she vanquished the behemoth, her dreams would be visited by her younger self.
When asked why she felt a piece of her soul had lingered in the soul world after her spirit was absorbed by the soul gem, she would tell him. Consequently, she begs Quill to give her the power gem so she can utilize the soul gem to restore her soul’s health, but he refuses. Before leaving, she would give a kiss to Star-Lord and the rest of the squad.
