Janelli Cacares Says Some Legends Never Die

French Montana’s late Coke Boys artist Chinx Drugz is still dropping new music 7 years after he has gunned down a fact his wife sees as a testament to the countless hours he spent recording. Janelli Caceres-Pickens, Chinx’s widow and Doug “Biggs” Ellison, his former manager painstakingly pieced together verses, snippets and unfinished tracks to complete Chinx’s third posthumous project and the sixth installment in the “Cocaine Riot” series.

In an interview Janelli discussed the album’s release and said she was exhausted but happy she did it. She also spoke about the recent spate of rap artist murders which are more frequent than after Chinx’s death. Janelli claims that she has been vocal about the recent string of tragedies including the shooting deaths of PnB Rock and Takeoff and that she believes it is unfair to attribute the trend to hip-hop culture.

But she admits that if she and Biggs weren’t she’d be listening to R&B. She blames the criminal element for ruining the atmosphere. Janelli, however is pleased with the Chinx project as a whole especially the collaboration on “Lonely” by Offset and herself. Streaming services ensure the continued existence of some legends.
