Echo 3 Part 2: American action thriller and drama series Echo 3 was created by two-time Oscar winner Mark Boal. The series which was shot almost entirely on location in Colombia in 2021 and features dialogue in both English and Spanish, is a black op thriller and tale of international intrigue. It was adapted by Omri Givon from Amir Gutfreund’s novel of the same name, which won an Emmy for best drama series in 2012.

Writer Mark Boal (Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker) is bringing his skills to Apple TV+ with a new series called Echo 3. In this drama, a scientist goes missing and her husband and brother set out to find her and bring her home. Recap of Episode 2 of Echo 3

When Prince finally gets back with his backpack, it’s after dark. Small and large firearms as well as ammunition are contained within. They both pack their bags and head to Ciudad Bolivar. They sneak up on the building with Prince using the front door and Bambi using the rooftop terrace. Snipers from the Colombian Special Forces notice them and report it to Colonel Pereira via radio.

They are to keep a close eye on them, he says. On the terrace, Bambi discovers a bed and realizes that Amber has been using it for rest. Once Prince has finished checking the house, he too makes his way to the terrace. Nobody is around. From the rooftops, Bambi and Prince descend to the city streets via a series of improbable acrobatic leaps.

The next step is clear to them. We are in the dark as to what they plan to do next. There must be a rationale behind the militants’ decision to relocate Amber.

Either she too is a high-value target or word got out that someone was coming for the militants. If the latter is true, then a spy is embedded in the Colombian military. Attacking the militants in secret can also put Bambi and Prince’s operations at risk. They have to be careful going forward.

What is the Plot of Echo 3 Part 2?

The events of Echo 3 begin with the kidnapping of the brilliant scientist Amber Chesborough in the area between the Colombian and Venezuelan borders. She is shown being forcibly dragged into a military vehicle by men with guns in the preview. She is then transferred to a prison in Venezuela where the other inmates warn her not to hope for her release.

Her captivity, she is told is due to political reasons. Despite this, Amber maintains hope for rescue telling an inmate, you don’t know my family. Obviously, she’s talking about her brother Bambi and her husband Prince. Both men are members of the elite military unit known as the Special Forces where they use their unique skills to protect the world. Amber Chesborough, a missing scientist will be played by Jessica Ann Collins (Revolution), Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast) and Michiel Huisman (The Flight Attendant). Joining them are Bradley Whitford (The Handmaid’s Tale) as Prince’s father and Martina Gusman as a political journalist.

Mark Boal, the screenwriter behind Echo 3 has a history of war-themed and political projects. For instance, the movie Zero Dark Thirty is a fictionalized account of the search for Osama bin Laden. Boal also created the story for the video game Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. These motifs are carried over into Echo 3 as well.
