A Trump adviser confirmed to CBS News on Friday that former President Trump had dinner with white nationalist Nick Fuentes and musician Kanye West at his Mar-a-Lago home on Tuesday. In a statement to CBS News, the ex-president claimed that he had never heard of Fuentes and had no idea that he would be traveling with West (also known as Ye).

Kanye West has serious Mar-a-Lago clubbing aspirations. Kanye and I had planned to have a quiet dinner alone, but he showed up to our date with a visitor whose identity and background I had no way of predicting “According to a statement Trump gave to CBS News.

Axios was the first to break the News of the Meal

Fuentes is a prominent figure on the far right, having participated in both the “Unite the Right” and “Stop the Steal” rallies on January 6 and 12, respectively. The Anti-Defamation League labels Fuentes, a white nationalist because of his promotion of antisemitic theories. ADL claims that Fuentes “jokingly” denied the Holocaust and compared Jews burned in concentration camps to cookies in an oven.

Since making antisemitic comments online, West has been mired in scandal for weeks, and he has since lost major endorsement deals with brands like Addidas, Gap, and Balenciaga. Following his antisemitic rants, he was temporarily banned from the social media platform, but last week he announced on Twitter that he had been unblocked.

West, who has stated he will run for president in 2024, posted a video on Twitter late Thursday in which he claimed to have had a “debrief” with Trump and asked the president to be his running mate.

While Trump “essentially started yelling at me, telling me I was going to lose,” according to West, “I was going to lose.” In an announcement made on November 15th, Trump declared his intention to run for president in 2024.

West added that he “loves Trump,” but that he’d told the former president that he should release the people arrested in connection with the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6 and bring back some of his loyalists whom the media “tried to cancel,” such as Trump’s first 2016 campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.

Basically, West said, “He gives me this would be mob-esque’ kinda story, talking to some kid from the southside of Chicago, trying to sound’mobby’ or whatever, and he goes into this story about everything that went through to get Alice Johnson out of jail, and how he didn’t do it for Kim and he did it for me.”

On Friday, Trump wrote on Truth Social that Ye had sought his guidance concerning some of his troubles, particularly having to do with his company during their meeting at Mar-a-Lago.

“We also touched on politics, though only briefly; I advised him against a candidacy for the presidency and warned him that his supporters should instead vote for Donald Trump. We hit it off immediately, he showed no signs of anti-Semitism, and I greatly appreciated the flattering things he had to say about me on “Tucker Carlson.” I wasn’t familiar with Nick Fuentes either.”

“We strongly condemn the virulent antisemitism of Kanye West and Nick Fuentes and call on all political leaders to reject their messages of hate and refuse to meet with him,” Republican Jewish Coalition executive director Matt Brooks told CBS News in a statement.

Trump’s ambassador to Israel David Friedman tweeted this on Friday: “My dear buddy Donald Trump, you deserve better. Having an anti-Semite like Kanye West or a lowlife like Nick Fuentes over for dinner is not acceptable. I strongly suggest you get rid of those scum, publicly denounce them, and put them in the trash where they belong.”
