On Thursday, Darrell Brooks will appear in Milwaukee County Court for the final pre-trial hearing on a number of accusations that stem from the city of Milwaukee. Only one day after completing sentencing in Waukesha something happens.
On Wednesday a judge ruled that Brooks was responsible for the death of a child at the Waukesha Christmas Parade and sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Six of the people he killed in the parade attack were given life sentences by Judge Jennifer Dorow. In addition to the murder allegation, he faces 17.5 years in jail for each of the 61counts of recklessly endangering safety.
Although Brooks’ case in Waukesha County is now over, he still has some work to do in not the courthouse The preliminary hearings for all three of Brooks’ pending cases in Milwaukee County will be held today.
On December 6, 2021, Brooks will have his last pre-trial hearing in connection with a third incident. A criminal complaint alleges that Brooks violated the conditions of his release by communicating with the female victim from the November incident.

According to the complaint during the call, she was informed of law enforcement’s request to review her medical records in order to prove the extent of her injuries sustained when she was run over.
Brooks continued to contact the woman and his mother several times over the next few days.
When questioned by prosecutors, the lady verified that Brooks had contacted her, told her he loved her and made her feel bad since he was in jail. She explained that she was terrified of Brooks because he posed a threat to her well-being. She claimed Brooks has connections in Milwaukee that could endanger her.
Those involved in that incident face accusations of felony bail jumping as well as intimidating a victim and threatening force, intimidating a witness and intimidating a victim and witness.
Two counts of recklessly endangering safety in the second degree and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon stem from an incident in 2020, which is one of the pending cases.
The second incident dates back to November of 2021 when Brooks is suspected of killing a woman by driving his automobile into her. When, three weeks later, he drove his SUV through the Waukesha parade he was free on a $1,000 bond for that incident.

A number of Brooks’s loved ones spoke on his behalf before his sentencing, including his mother, Dawn Woods.
Woods speaking from a distance via Zoom described her son as “broken” but insisted that despite his behavior in court and the charges against him he was not uncaring.
Everyone is susceptible to developing a mental disease. Woods emphasized the impact this has on families and how it wrecks lives. That they got sick and started changing as a person was through no fault of their own.
Those who commit crimes due to mental illness should be held responsible, she said, but she advocated for treatment rather than institutionalization. In this sense, Woods urged listeners to exercise compassion and empathy.
Woods stated, “I’ve been dealing with mental illness for thirty years or so, and this is how I see it.” The solution is not incarceration.
She wanted to apologize to all who were harmed by Brooks’ acts in the parade, especially the family of Jackson Sparks and she wanted to seek for forgiveness, as stated by Brooks’ grandmother, Mary Edwards.

Edwards remarked, “Darrell has completely lost touch with reality. Brooks, she said, has been dealing with bipolar disorder for a very long time.
Michele Alworth, a friend of Brooks from happier times, has indicated that he has helped her out in times of medical need.
Alworth has expressed the wish that “he gets the assistance he needs for his mental disorder” in a reputable facility.
