Reports say that Gabrielle Union and Eva Longoria are producing a wedding comedy for Amazon Studios in which they both star. During the premiere of The Inspection, Union broke the news and confirmed that production on the wedding comedy is continuing.

Union also said that she and Longoria will portray warring mothers whose sons are getting married, with each trying to take control of the event in order to convert it into a version of their ideal nuptials. “Eva and I strive to take over the wedding preparations and make it the wedding of our fantasies instead of theirs,” she stated.

Ricardo Gamboa will pen the comedy script and Macro Film Studios, I’ll Have Another production and Eva Longoria’s UnbeliEVAble Entertainment will produce the film.

The fact that this isn’t Union’s only current project with LGBTQ+ leads is intriguing. She and Jake Gyllenhaal voice Jaboukie Young-gay White’s teen character Ethan Clade in Disney’s next animated feature Strange World.

In addition, Union plays the mother of a young gay man, Ellis French (Jeremy Pope), who is left to fend for himself on the streets at the age of 16 and eventually enlists in the marines because of it.

Union has spoken out in favor of including more LGBTQ+ characters and storylines in media, saying, “A lot of folks are attempting to remove big sections of our community and trying to recreate reality without LGBTQIA folks,” so this is hardly a coincidence. In fact, we may be found in every corner of the globe.

The upcoming wedding comedy also stars Longoria, who is no stranger to comic classics. She co-stars with Union. The actor’s resume includes leading roles in comedic films and TV shows like Desperate Housewives, Over Her Dead Body, Dora and the Lost City of Gold and The Baytown Outlaws. Longoria, like Union, is a supporter of the LGBTQ+ movement. The actor appeared in a portrait with singer Lara Fabian as a gay couple for a project called The Imaginary Couples in 2017.
