Elden Ring: As 2022 draws to a close it will soon be time to honor the developers of some of the year’s finest video games. Host and executive producer Geoff Keighley has announced this year’s nominees.
With its release on PS4 and PS5 only a week ago God of War Ragnarok has already racked up 10 nominations followed by Elden Ring and Horizon: Forbidden West with seven apiece. The fantastic Stray also did quite well, receiving six nominations. All four of those games are up for nominations for “Game of the Year.” In addition, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and A Plague Tale: Requiem have been announced.
Sony Interactive Entertainment, whose titles God of War Ragnarok and Horizon: Forbidden West performed exceptionally well, received the most nominations (twenty) of any publisher, followed by Annapurna Interactive and Nintendo (11 apiece), Bandai Namco (eight) and Riot Games (six).
Don’t blame Keighley if your favorite didn’t make the cut; nominees are decided by a jury made up of representatives from more than 100 media and influential sources. In case you haven’t heard, voting is now live on The Game Awards’ website and Discord server. Bilibili is the channel through which Chinese fans can cast their votes.
This year marks the introduction of the Best Adaptation award for media based on video games. League of Legends, The Cuphead Show!, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Uncharted are among the games up for nomination. I’m sorry, Halo. Although, next year, it’s not hard to foresee The Last of Us on HBO making the cut.

Many more games both large and little were also recognized with nominations in 31 different categories (which also include esports and creator awards). Games like Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, MultiVersus, Vampire Survivor, Diablo Immortal and Overwatch 2 were also recognized, along with Marvel Snap, Immortality, Scorn, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Splatoon 3, Tunic, Cult of the Lamb, Sifu and more. Apple Arcade and Netflix were not recognized as Best Mobile Apps.
The 8th of December is the date of the ceremony. You can watch The Game Awards on Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Steam, Instagram Live and dozens of other platforms if you can’t make it to the actual event or an IMAX cinema showing it.
