House of Dragon Deleted Scenes

Here you will read about House of Dragon deleted scenes from different episodes. As the House of the Dragon’s conclusion showed a dragon will do what a dragon will do. Game of Thrones viewers had waited years to see a true dragon brawl, so the creators didn’t take any chances.

Showrunner Ryan Condal told filmmaker Greg Yaitanes, “Make this a Game of Thrones sequence… dive into everything the program has to offer.”

Yaitanes is a co-executive producer on House of the Dragon and knew the original HBO show. But he widened his visual influences. “I saw the first How to Train Your Dragon because Roger Deakins was the visual consultant. So that was cinematically appealing,” Yaitanes told, saying that he tweaked the House of the Dragon scene to avoid being too identical to the animated picture.

“I went back to the first Jurassic Park because the dinosaurs had a feeling of scale that the sequels lacked,” he said. I drew a lot of cues from what made the dinosaurs look so enormous and exciting from [Steven Spielbergframing. ]’s Storm’s End and the air smell like Jurassic Park.”

Entertainment Weekly has more on the sequence, including how it was blocked with toy dragons before CG. HBO Max is streaming season 1 of House of the Dragon.

House of Dragon Deleted Scenes

House of Dragon deleted scenes: Due to its hurried first season (20+ years in ten episodes), numerous House of the Dragon scenes had to be cut. There are scenes that were never filmed (including any interactions between Rhaenyra Targaryen and Harwin Strong before we see their kids) and deleted passages that could’ve enriched the characters.

Co-creators Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik thought these instances too small to delay the Targaryen civil war after the season one conclusion. We didn’t need more pictures of Aemma’s blood-soaked bed, but it would’ve been wonderful to see Rhaenyra and Alicent before the latter’s wedding. Here’s all the House of the Dragon footage that was cut.

The Prophecy and the Spare

Viserys (Paddy Considine) reveals a major prophecy to Rhaenyra in the premiere episode — a change put forth by George R.R. Martin despite no mention of it in Fire & Blood, but Game of Thrones fans are familiar with it — that a Targaryen must sit on the Iron Throne to unite the realm against, well, you know.

Considine informed the New York Times that his character hinted at the prophecy to his brother Daemon in a deleted scene. Daemon would laugh Viserys out of the room.” The show has established that the prophesy only flows between Targaryen rulers, therefore this was probably a good cut by Condal and Sapochnik; Daemon was never actually considered for an heir.

The apogee of the Heirless

Considine told Josh Horowitz, “She made this effect on me, and it simply changed the trajectory of how I played the character,” in reference to Siân Brooke’s portrayal of Queen Aemma. I thought, “This is what he’ll have to keep with him forever.” What we shot was ten times more terrible than what you saw, including the scene where Aemma dies after a forced C-section.

Considine said, “He was ten times more heartbroken than what you witnessed.” A master telling Viserys that their newborn baby Baelon had perished was another heartbreaking scene cut from that episode.
