Liam Hemsworth Replace Henry Cavill in The Witcher

After three seasons as the star of “The Witcher” on Netflix, Henry Cavill is hanging up his blades and moving on. He announced his departure from the role on Instagram on Friday, writing, “My trip as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures and regrettably, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4.”

Liam Hemsworth, he continued, “will be taking up the mantle” of the heroic, blond persona.

As with the best of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s perspective on this most fascinating and multifaceted man,” Cavill wrote.

Hemsworth, who plays Gale in “The Hunger Games,” shared his excitement at being cast as Geralt of Rivia on Saturday via Instagram.

‘Henry Cavill has been a great Geralt, and I’m honored that he’s entrusting me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure,’ he wrote.

The 2019 Netflix fantasy series “The Witcher” was adapted by Lauren Schmidt from the books by Andrzej Sapkowski. It was well welcomed, leading to the production of a second season that premiered late last year. Next summer (in 2019) will bring Season 3.

At the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con just before the premiere of the show, Cavill said that he had lobbied for the role after enjoying a video game based on the book series.

He admitted at the time that “I’m a gamer. I cared deeply about the games and attended every one I could. When I read this, my first thought was, “I really hope they develop this into a TV program or movie.

The opportunity “was something I wasn’t going to let pass me by without giving it my best try,” Cavill stated at Comic-Con. Always causing problems for my reps. They reported that “they are not ready.”

Cavill, on the other hand, is probably looking to add another legendary part to his resume.

He will reprise his role as Clark Kent/Superman in upcoming DC films, it was just announced. (Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent corporation, also owns CNN and HBO Max.)

After Henry Cavill’s mid-credits appearance in this month’s popular “Black Adam,” a crossover film between Superman and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam has been speculated upon, as has a standalone sequel to 2013’s “Man of Steel.”

About a week before he posted about “The Witcher,” Cavill posted a photo of himself as Superman and a video explaining his decision to return to the role on Instagram.

Friends, this is just a small preview of things to come. The bright morning light of rekindled optimism,” he said.
