The Conjuring 4: New Line Reveals it Wants More Money To Starts The Movie

THR says that the horror sequel The Conjuring 4 is officially in development, meaning that the kooky Warrens will soon be at it again, with “it” presumably being “making New Line Cinema absolutely gobsmacking amounts of money on essentially the least amount of cash imaginable.”

Like its title suggests, this will be the tenth or ninth installment in the Conjuring film series, which has never met a terrifying doll or nun it didn’t want to make a quick horror spin-off about. (A sequel to “The Nun” will be released in theatres in the year 2023!).

New Line has confirmed that Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will reprise their roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren in the upcoming film, despite the fact that they continue to be much more, uh, concrete, evidence-wise, in their paranormal investigators than they ever were in real life.

The screenplay will be written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who penned both The Conjuring 2 and last year’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It; however, there is currently no director attached to the film. James Wan will return to his role as producer. (Since Conjuring 2, when he co-created the franchise with Peter Safran, Aquaman filmmaker James Wan hasn’t helmed a film in the series, though he often receives a screenplay credit for the sequels.)

It’s hardly shocking that there will be a sequel since, frankly, the ROI on these has always been ridiculously high. (New Line and Warner Bros. have made $2.1 billion at the box office off of a stated total budget of $178 million for all eight films in the series.)

As incredible as it may sound, 2022 will only be the third year in the last decade that there won’t be a Conjuring picture in theatres. (The franchise had originally skipped 2015 and 2020; however, 2019 has had The Curse of La Llarona and Annabelle: Come Home.) Conjuring 4 has not yet been given a release date.
