It has been made clear that DeSean Jackson is eager to return to football and the Baltimore Ravens have taken notice.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Jackson, a free agent who last played in 2021 with the Las Vegas Raiders is signing with the Ravens after working out for the team on Tuesday.

During the current I AM ATHLETE podcast live tour, the veteran sprinter revealed that he is not retired and is considering a comeback. He mentioned that the Philadelphia Eagles, the Green Bay Packers and the Baltimore Ravens were the three clubs that piqued his interest.

Since Rashod Bateman’s groyne injury, the Ravens’ lack of wide receiver depth has become even more of a problem.

The 35-year-old Jackson, a big-play specialist during his 14-year career, is hoping to develop a Jackson-Jackson connection with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, giving the Ravens’ attack an additional twist up top.

Jackson played for the Eagles for the first six years of his professional career after being drafted by them as the 49th overall choice in the 2008 NFL Draft. He spent two more seasons with the Eagles after that and in 2021 he also played for Washington, the Buccaneers, the Rams and the Raiders.

Jackson hinted in April that he was considering retiring from football. Despite saying he was “not really sure” about returning to action in 2022, he did qualify his statement by saying it was possible with the appropriate team. He didn’t bring up the Ravens at the time, but he did recently.

The Baltimore Ravens have faith in Jackson’s ability to return to form.
