The author shared the story behind his decision to end his years-long anonymity. He claims that this is so that he can travel and hang out with people like fellow streamer George. “I wanted to get out and start doing things, interacting with the creative community and reconnecting with old friends.

Dream urged his audience to “just get out in the world.” Create something real. Take on human form. The dream has stated that he will be creating more real-life content in the future, but will not be using a face cam.

Following a lengthy buildup, in which the YouTuber’s friends shared videos documenting their reactions to finally seeing his face during a video chat, the star finally revealed his identity. His roommate Sapnap was one of the few people to have seen his face before Sunday’s reveal.

The dream belongs to a subset of content creators known colloquially as “faceless YouTubers” because they never reveal their true identities. As much as his privacy was protected by the mask, the streamer’s popularity skyrocketed as a result of the speculation that ensued.

The dream mentioned in the video was how demanding fans wanting to see his face could be. “Those who are trying to leak my face, trying to identify my appearance,” he explained. As in, “There’s too much.”
