Netflix Eliminates LGBTQ Label From Jeffrey Dahmer Series

After receiving a lot of negative feedback regarding its controversial series about disturbed serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, Netflix eliminates the LGBTQ label after viewers’ outcry.

Evan Peters plays the late Milwaukee cannibal who murdered and chopped up 17 victims in “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” but the streaming service has mysteriously removed the tag without providing an official explanation.

Though, it was after several days of internet outcry by disgruntled viewers, many of whom identified Netflix in their attacks. One user on TikTok asked, “Why the f-k did Netflix tag the Jeffrey Dahmer documentary LGBTQ?” They posted an image of the old tag next to ones for “ominous,” “psychological,” and “horror,” all of which apply to the documentary.

“I mean, I know it’s technically accurate, but this is not the representation we’re looking for,” the viewer writing under the handle Lizthelezbo said in the now-famous post. Others posted screenshots on Twitter claiming the show was marked as LGBT-friendly. This has enraged the families of several of Dahmer’s victims.

Scary picture of Peters as the cannibal? “Imagine clicking on the ‘LGBTQ’ category and this is what you get,'” one user remarked. Another reviewer asked, “What timeline are we in?” by saying, “If you told me Netflix was putting a Jeffrey Dahmer biopic under the LGBT section, I would literally laugh at you.”

People need to know that the Dahmer case is a significant part of LGBTQ history and that he was acquitted of numerous charges, as stated by one individual. A second user of the video platform, who identified herself as a “bi nurse,” commented, “I mean, that is something that severely touched the LGBTQ community, right? Intent on edification?!

Another contributor highlighted that “several of the men who lost their lives are also told about, and their families are represented” in the exhibition.
