Little Britain (2003–2006, 2020) and Come Fly With Me (also BBC) were two of his most notable collaborations with David Walliams (2010–2011). In the British television series Doctor Who, Lucas played the part of Nardole (2015–2017). In this post, you will read about Is Matt Lucas sick? What happened to him?

His film credits include Paddington (2012), Small Apartments (2012), Bridesmaids (2011), and Alice in Wonderland (2010). Lucas has co-hosted The Great British Bake Off with Noel Fielding since 2020.

Matt Lucas Early Life

Matthew Richard Lucas, the son of Diana (born 1945) and chauffeuring business owner John Stanley Lucas, was born on March 5, 1974, in the Paddington neighborhood of London (1944–1996). Some members of his mother’s family were Jews who escaped Nazi Germany before World War II. From the age of six on, he has suffered from alopecia. Lucas’s father passed away at 52 from a heart attack when he was 22.

Lucas went to the same schools as David Baddiel and Sacha Baron Cohen, Aylward Primary School and Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. While in Bristol, he majored in drama between 1992 and 1995. However, he dropped out before graduating. Also, he participated in the National Youth Theatre, where he met David Walliams, with whom he would later work.

Matt Lucas’ Career

Starting in 1992, Lucas has worked with Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer. In 1995, he was in The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer and co-starred in 1996’s Shooting Stars with the same actors. He became well-known for his role as George Dawes, the enormous baby (often wearing an adult-sized romper suit) who sat at a drum set and made a series of stupid jokes and insults before announcing the winning and losing teams’ scores. Occasionally, he would also appear as George Dawes’ mother, Marjorie, a recurring character in Little Britain.

He worked with Reeves & Mortimer again, this time in the BBC TV shows Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) and Catterick, playing several different characters. Matt Lucas teamed up with David Walliams, with whom he had previously collaborated in Mash and Peas and Sir Bernard’s Stately Homes, to develop the comedy show Rock Profile, which parodied well-known musicians, in 1999. This is significant because it was one of their earliest joint comedy efforts. It’s not the only performer who’s benefited from Lucas’s pen.

Matt Lucas’ Personal Life

Lucas supports the Karen Morris Memorial Trust, an organization that helps people with leukemia and their families in the United Kingdom. He went on Celebrity Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in April 2003 and won £62,500 for the organization.

This is not a secret, but Lucas is gay. At age seven, he had his first s*xual orientation crisis. He married Kevin McGee in a civil ceremony held in London’s Central District in December 2006. Some notable people included Barbara Windsor, Neil Tennant, Elton John, and Courtney Love. In 2008, after they had already begun living apart, they went to the High Court to have their civil partnership dissolved.

Lucas has said that he is both an atheist and a “pretty secular Jew,” despite his Jewish upbringing. In an episode of the BBC show Who Do You Think You Are? broadcast on June 16, 2022, Lucas learned that many of his grandmother’s cousins had been murdered by the Nazis.

Werner Goldschmidt, a distant relative of his grandmother’s, borrowed an apartment from Otto Frank in Amsterdam in 1942 and lived with the Frank family before they went into hiding. He received his German citizenship in 2021 and picked up his Certificate of Naturalization from the German consulate, 83 years after his grandmother fled Berlin.

Matt Lucas Before and After Weight Loss

When the Great British Bake Off returned to TV screens this week, star Matt Lucas shocked viewers with his dramatic weight loss. Many were concerned for his health, but the show’s presenter has recently explained why he’s been dieting and exercising.

He told podcast presenter Gabby Logan that he wasn’t going to risk an early demise as his father and grandfather had. According to Birmingham Live, he said that he lost weight by just eating less of the items he enjoyed before.

“I’m 48; my dad died when he was 52, quite abruptly; his dad died I suppose at 56, so I was looking at the law of averages here,” he said to her on The Mid Point program.

I was already rather significant, and the epidemic made me more prominent. In a nutshell, I’ve been sitting around doing nothing, barely leaving the house, and sustaining myself solely on roast potatoes.

Matt, 48, admitted that he had overindulged in a single, frequent food: roast potatoes. He went so far as to say that he now enjoys shaping them into various forms simply to have “something to do.”

The Bake Off contestant said on the podcast, “I was so fat I couldn’t fit on television anymore. I adore them. It’s the same as before; I don’t consume quite as much.

My tummy is still nice and round; I’m not skinny by any stretch of the imagination; I’ve just shed some weight. My size has shrunk from what was once a double XXL and even a triple XXL to a medium. I find that a medium fits me well and poorly at different times.

He went on, “I do feel a bit better; I feel a bit relieved because I don’t use any drugs and I don’t smoke and I almost ever drink, so it’s just the food. I still indulge in sweets but don’t consume as much as before.

“I live not far from a canal and I love when the weather is beautiful going for long walks along the canal either with a buddy or on my own,” Matt added, explaining how regular walks have helped him maintain his fitness level in addition to reducing his intake of roast potatoes. With a chuckle, he continued, “I guess I’m inherently predisposed to being horizontal.” Just the fact that I find it enjoyable.”
