Is Jack Quaid Related to Dennis Quaid?

Dennis Quaid is the father of Jack Quaid. Dennis tied the knot with Meg Ryan on February 14, 1991. They fell for each other while filming “D.O.A.” They welcomed their son, Jack Quaid, on April 24, 1992. Dennis and Meg Ryan separated in 2000 and finalized their divorce in 2001.

Let’s dig into some of the statements they said about each other in their past interviews

Jack Quaid once said during a 2021 interview that his parents had kept their hands off his acting choices. Jack said “They don’t give me advice,” adding, “I’ve never asked them, ‘How should I perform this scene?’  He continued, “The way that these business works is so much different than the way that it worked back then for them,” adding, “I’m experiencing some things for the first time, like working on a movie set during COVID.”

But that does not indicate that his parents aren’t supportive at all. Even Dennis and Meg supported his decision to pursue an acting career which meant way more to Jack than any advice.

The 30-year-old said, “It’s lucky that I got to grow up saying, ‘Hey, I want to be an actor, and they understood that,” adding, “I didn’t grow up in a house that didn’t quite understand what that meant or a house that would tell me, ‘Oh that probably isn’t the wisest choice you should have a backup plan.’ Like, I had the privilege, and I was lucky to have people that understood what that meant and supported me going into it.”

Jack declined his father’s favor to help him start his career in the entertainment industry. In an October 2020 interview on the Kelly Clarkson Show, Dennis Quaid said, “My agent wanted to represent him, and he said, ‘No, I want to do it on my own.’” Jack made his debut with The Hunger Games and landed the cast of HBO’s Vinyl, but he reached another height of success with Amazon’s “The Boys.”

Dennis quipped, “So now I’m saying, ‘Hey — how ’bout a little help over here?” continuing, “I don’t care [about doing it on my own]!” He then revealed Jack’s passion to act since “a very, very, very young age.” He evoked, “He had a video camera in his hand when he was like four years old, making little videos and stuff,” adding, “It was just a very natural thing that he did, it wasn’t something we pushed him towards. Ever since he was a kid, it was obvious that he would do that.”

Jack’s parents used to take him with them on film sets when he was a child, but that probably didn’t help Jack.

Jack said, “I would go on location with my parents a lot, but it was almost like, you go for a few hours,” adding, “I wasn’t taking any pointers or anything. A kid can’t handle how slow a set moves, so I would watch a couple of takes and then go to the craft service truck and try to steal all the candy I could!”

He added, “Get used to waiting,” while opening up on things he learned from watching them. “You’re in your trailer a lot, anticipating going to set, and sometimes it just takes a long time. So, bring a book, bring a show you like to watch — just chill. It’ll give you time to relax,” he added.
