Anne Heche Removed From Life Support After Organs Harvested

The actress Anne Heche, whose magnetic personality made her major success in the 1990s, passed away on Sunday, just over a week after she smashed her car into a home in Los Angeles. Age-wise, she was in her mid-fifties. A spokesman wrote that they “peacefully removed life support” for her. “Anne will be greatly missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her famous body of work, and her ardent activism,” Heche’s family said in a statement on Friday while she was still on life support to allow her organs to be taken. “Her courage in speaking her truth and sharing her message of love and acceptance will continue to have an enduring influence.”

Performing Life of Anne Heche

The Ohioan’s meteoric rise to stardom began just after high school when she appeared on the NBC serial series “Another World.” From 1987 through 1991, she portrayed Vicky Hudson and Marley Love, a pair of identical twins. In 1991, she won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in this role

Heche’s film career took off in the 2000s.

In the 1997 film “Donnie Brasco,” starring Johnny Depp and Al Pacino, she played the wife of an undercover FBI agent and won praise for her performance. Additionally, Heche appeared in “Volcano,” a summer blockbuster starring Tommy Lee Jones, in a supporting role. Though it was panned by critics, audiences nonetheless flocked to see this epic catastrophe flick. Heche also appeared in “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” another huge box office success, albeit in a smaller part.

Later that year, she co-starred with Robert DeNiro and Dustin Hoffman in “Wag the Dog.”Everything in Heche’s professional life was going at top speed. In the 1998 romantic adventure comedy “Six Days, Seven Nights,” she starred alongside Harrison Ford for the first time. Together with Vince Vaughn and Joaquin Phoenix, she starred in “Return to Paradise” that same year.

After Heche and DeGeneres’ breakup, she went to a rural location near Fresno, California, and knocked on the door of a complete stranger, resulting in her being sent to the hospital. According to the authorities, she gave off a frightened and confused vibe to the neighborhood and mumbled to them as she tried to explain what was going on.

She opened up about her battles with mental illness and the violence she endured as a child in her memoir “Call Me Crazy,” published the following year.

Heche’s career has taken various turns during the past two decades.

  • She and Jason Ellis co-hosted a SiriusXM radio show called “Love and Heche” in 2017.
  • Heche entered the podcasting industry in the year 2020. She created the show “Better Together,” which she and Heather Duffy Boylston co-hosted. To honor friendship was billed as the show’s main purpose.
  • She also had roles in independent films, Broadway productions, and television series. She was a contestant on Season 29 of “Dancing with the Stars” and has recently appeared in recurring roles on the network series “Chicago P.D.” and “All Rise.”
  • She was wed to cameraman Coleman Laffoon from 2001 to 2009. Together they had a child they named Homer. During her time with “Men in Trees” co-star and actor James Tupper, she gave birth to a baby they called Atlas.
  • On August 5, witnesses saw Heche’s automobile racing through the streets of Los Angeles before crashing into a two-story house in the Mar Vista district, where Heche later died of her injuries. The police think she was drunk when the incident occurred.
  • The Los Angeles Police Department has stated that they will no longer be conducting any additional inquiries into the incident.
