Nancy Patricia Pelosi is an American politician who has been the speaker of the United States House of Representatives since 2019 and before that from 2007 to 2011. Since 1987, she has been the U.S. representative for California. Pelosi is the only woman who has ever been a speaker of the U.S. House. She is a member of the Democratic Party.

Since then, Pelosi has dodged inquiries regarding her leadership future, leading some to speculate that she may run for re-election in the 118th Congress. Perhaps Pelosi has decided not to announce her retirement out of fear of being a lame duck in her final months.
