He stated to the NHL, “I am glad I came back. It was awesome. Obviously disappointing, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. I know this team, they’ll learn and grow and be better.” However, he said that he has no plans to come out of retirement again. He added, “I’ve milked this cow as long as it’ll go. It’s bone dry.”
How did Fisher and Underwood first meet?
Their initial encounter sounded exactly like something out of a romantic comedy. The bassist of Carrie’s band, Mark Childers, also happened to be Fisher’s long-time friend, and the musician was eager for the two to get together. Carrie eventually agreed to meet Fisher.
Mike Fisher was headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, whereas Underwood was based in Tennessee at the time. It was only natural for the vocalist to harbor some hesitance. “It’s fun to miss somebody,” she told Taste of Country. ” We talked on the phone for almost three months before we actually got together—that was good for us. Then our first real date was on New Year’s Eve, and our first kiss was when the ball dropped.”
The singer proceeded, “We can go weeks without seeing each other. He’s the only guy I’ve never had to worry about. Any guy I’ve ever dated, there would always be that doubt … ‘ He didn’t answer his phone…he what’s doing? ‘It’s late.’ I’m not the crazy-girlfriend type, but there was a little voice in the back of my head. I don’t have to worry about Mike. I don’t think twice.”
