Elon Musk Says Nicole Shanahan Should Sue The WSJ For Claiming She Cheated On Sergey Brin With Him

On Wednesday, July 27, Elon Musk led Google Co-founder, Sergey Brin’s wife, Nicole Shanahan to file a legal complaint against the media outlet, The Wall Street Journal for defamation following it published a piece where that claimed that Tesla’s CEO for having a relationship with Nicole in the past.

On Wednesday, Tesla’s CEO tweeted “As a ‘public person,’ standard to win a defamation lawsuit against a news org is almost impossible,” adding “They could say I’m Satan and the ‘source’ is their psychic!”

The Tesla chief, who had pledged to do fewer tweets following that story stormed the internet, later considered that Nicole would take legal action against the media outlet. He took to Twitter writing “Nicole is not a public person, so [she] could win,” adding “I hope she sues them.”

Later, Elon Musk accused Michael Siconolfi, who is the WSJ’s investigations editor, for making “so many fake hit pieces.”

Musk then went on to reveal that he had a conversation with Sergey Brin on Tuesday, July 26 and “he says neither he nor anyone he knows has talked to WSJ.”

The Tesla Chief and Nicole Shanahan, both have declined the story through their attorney, which asserted that the duo was involved romantically, causing a “rupture” between Brin and Musk. 

In a statement, Nicole’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman who is based in Los Angeles, said “Make no mistake, any suggestion that Nicole [Shanahan] had an affair with Elon Musk is not only an outright lie but also defamatory.”

According to the WSJ, the assumed affair was the reason behind the separation of Brin and Shanahan.  

Musk reportedly also sent a picture of him and Brin at a recent party which was captured the day prior to when the story went viral. He said in a statement that the article that the Journal published claiming he bent down on his knees to apologize to Brin is misleading.

Further, Musk also denied any report of a relationship. He took to Twitter to share that he has not “had sex in ages.”

In spite of his denying the reports, the WSJ claims that the claim made in the article is true. In a statement, the Journal said “We are confident in our sourcing, and we stand by our reporting.”

On July 26, Elon Musk complained via Twitter regarding the Journal and the attention of people that his assumed exploits have been getting. On July 25, Musk took to Twitter writing “The amount of attention on me has gone supernova, which super sucks,” adding further “Unfortunately, even trivial articles about me generate a lot of clicks :(.”

The Tesla CEO continued “Will try my best to head down focused on doing useful things for civilization.”

In the last few months, Elon Musk has been engaged in a lot of controversies. A legal case has been filed against him by Twitter following his step back to acquire the media company for $44 billion.
