Clay Walker: Early Life

Clay is the first baby of Ernest and Danna Walker, born on 19 August 1969 in Texas. He had five siblings and was raised by his mother and stepfather. His real name is Ernest Clayton Walker Jr. His father presented him with a guitar on his ninth birthday. At an early age, Clay start a job on a radio station and there he started to play his own written songs.

Clay completed his graduation from Vidor High School in 1986 and then get a minor job at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company plant.

Clay started with singles and he premiered a total of eleven albums.

Clay began his career with his debut album in 1993. Its first single “What’s It to You” reached no. 1 on Billboard Hot Country Singles. Then he released “Live Until I Die” written by himself.

Then “Where Do I Fit in the Picture” and Dreaming With My Eyes Open” were also sung by him. “If I Could Make a Living” was the second album that aired on 1994 and get platinum. His song “This Woman and This Man” remain for two weeks on no 1 position. 

Gordon Ely said that “Walker has broken loose from Nashville’s most recent crop of carefully crafted cowboys.”

In 1995, Walker’s third album was released, Hypnotize the Moon, its famous songs are “Only on Days That End in ‘Y’ and  “Bury the Shovel”. In 1996he completed his fourth album, and in the same year, he realized that he is suffering from double vision and facial spasms. His fourth album “Rumor Has It” was released in 1997, the songs included in it are “One, Two, I Love You”, “Watch This” and “Then What”. His fourth album was also certified platinum.

 In 1998, he released his singles “Ordinary People” and “You Are Beginning to Get to Me”. In 1999, Walker released his next album Life, Lough, Love. In 2002, Clay sing a title song for the Football team the Houston Texans “Football time in Huston”.

In 2009 he worked with Asylum-curb. In 2015 he released his new single “Right Now” and in 2020 he signed with Show Dog Nashville and released his fourth single “Need a Bar Sometimes” 

 The Rough Guide said that he “had loads of youthful energy, a golden Texas twang, and, of course, plenty of boyish good looks.”

Clay married to Lori Jayne Lampson, a rodeo queen before starting his career. He had two daughters Maclay DaLayne and Skylor ClayAnne. They divorced in 2006. Then Clay married Jessica Craig in 2007 and they have four children William Clayton, Mary Elizabeth, Elijah Craig, and Ezra Stephen. In 2021 they also have a fifth baby named  Christiaan Michael.
