Hawkins was experiencing chest pain in his hotel room on March 25, 2022, when medical services were called to the Four Seasons Casa Medina in Bogotá, Colombia. When medical workers came, they discovered Hawkins unconscious. They gave him CPR, but at the age of 50, he was pronounced dead at the site. But the reason of his death was not disclosed.

A primary urine testing report showed the next day that Hawkins had ten substances in his system at the time of his death, including narcotics, benzodiazepines, tricyclic antidepressants, and THC, the psychoactive component in cannabis.

The attorney general’s office will continue to look into Taylor Hawkins’ cause of death in a “timely manner,” according to a statement from Colombia’s National Institute of Forensic Medicine. “Medical investigation will continue to achieve total clarification of the events that led to the death of Taylor Hawkins,” the institute said.
