Who Is Senator Tim Scott?

The 56-year-old Senator Tim Scott, 56, is the sole African-American senator of the Republican party. He was born in North Charleston, South Carolina.

He is the child of Frances who was a nursing assistant and Ben Scott Sr. When he was 7, Scott’s parents divorced and he was raised in poverty his mother used to work for 16 hours a day to provide for her family. He also has an older brother who serves as a sergeant major in the U.S. Army.

He went to R.B. Stall High School and completed graduation and later, from 1983 to 1984, Scott went to Presbyterian College on a partial football scholarship. In 1988, he graduated from Charleston Southern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in political science.

He is an alumnus of South Carolina’s Palmetto Boys State program, an experience he refers to as inspiring in his decision to join public service.

He made his way up through county and state politics prior to being appointed to the House of Representatives in 2010.

Later, after the resignation of incumbent Senator Jim DeMint; South Carolina Governor Nikki Hale elected Scott to the Senate in 2013.

In 2014 and 2016, he won the elections and during his tenure in the Senate, he expressed willingness toward addressing racial problems whilst also stressing conservative causes.

He is the owner of an insurance agency, Tim Scott Allstate, and is a partner in Pathway Real Estate Group, LLC.

He said “He (Herschel Walker) is a guy whose time has come,” adding further “But here’s the important part, he’s a conservative. American values just emanate from his soul. This is an opportunity for Georgia to get it right.”

He also expressed his belief that Democrats are “afraid” of the Republican party as watching “African Americans standing up and being proud and supporting the GOP is the scariest thing.”

In Virginia, he said Americans cast their votes for someone they believed would represent “American Values.”

He then added “Not Republican or Democrat, but consistently conservative American values are the name of the game. It is the way that we continue into the next American century.”
