Queen of the South is an American crime drama TV series created by M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller and inspired by the novel named La Reina del Sur written by Arturo Pérez-Reverte.
The first season of the series aired from June 23, 2016, to September 15, 2016, with a total of thirteen episodes. The series received positive responses both from the audience as well as critics and has an IMDB rating of 7.9 out of 10 and 68% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The series ran for five seasons with the fifth season airing from April 7, 2021, to June 9, 2021, with a total of ten episodes. The series’ fans are eager to know if the series will be renewed again for the sixth season and here’s everything you should know about it.
Queen of the South Season 6 Release Date
The series was renewed for its fifth season on the 29th of August 2019 but its production had to be delayed in March 2020 because of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and was later resumed in the fall of that year.
On March 8, 2021, the announcement was made that the fifth season would be the last and final season of the series and would air on April 7, 2021.
Sadly, as of now, we cannot expect the renewal of the series for a new season until the same is hinted at by the creator or its original network. It has had 62 episodes in total to date and has a runtime of 38 to 40 minutes for each episode.

Queen of the South Season 6 Expected Storyline
The series revolves around Teresa Mendoza, a poor Mexican woman who becomes rich after she builds a massive drug empire.
She lives in the barrio of Culiacán in Sinaloa, Mexico, and develops feelings for a drug cartel member. She attempts to rise above the poor circumstances of her life.
Following being informed of her boyfriend’s murder; she is compelled to escape and crosses the border to the US where she eventually ends up in the criminal organization of the cartel boss’ wife who is in pursuit of her.
Mendoza has a different perception of the drug distribution business and because her charisma allures executives and she apparently begins her own drug distributing organization.
She achieves a lot of success which of course brings her more issues and makes her sustain sacrifices, catching the covert government forces’ attention.
The expected storyline of the sixth season has not been known yet since as of now, the series stands canceled.
