Lil Keed was born on March 16, 1998, in Atlanta, Georgia. Render was raised in Forest Park, and later, he moved to Atlanta on Cleveland Ave. He also has six siblings.

In 2016, following the demise of his close friend Rudy, he took on his career in rapping seriously. Keed’s younger brother is also a rapper Lil Gotit.

When he was young, his parents separated but in spite of this, his parents raised him as a team. When he was a teenager, Lil Keed worked at Subway and McDonald’s for a while. He would go on to tape music approximately daily being near a studio.

He first began his music career with his younger brother Semaja Render and used to post songs online in 2017 he got some regional hits in 2017. He also welcomed a daughter, Naychur.

Career

Lil Keed’s song titled “Slatt Rock” was released on July 23, 2018, and it also featured Paper Lovee with his upcoming mixtape named “Trapped on Cleveland 2.” In the same year, Lil Uzi Vert’s single titled “Heavy Metal” featured Lil Keed with his younger brother Lil Gotit.

In late 2018, Keed’s next mixtape “Keed Talk to ‘Em,” was released and it had the lead single titled “Nameless”, along with several other famous tracks like “Balenciaga” which featured 21 Savage, “Red Hot” which featured Trippie Redd, amongst others. Lil Durk, Lil Yachty, and Brandy were also featured in Keed Talk to ‘Em.

In March 2019, Lil Gotit’s song titled “Drop The Top” featured Lil Keed and Keed also released a single titled “Move It”. He also received a nomination for the 10th spot for the XXL Freshman cover in March 2019.

He then released his song called “Oh My God” on April 24, 2019, and later he released a song titled “Proud Of Me” on May 6, 2019, which featured Young Thug. His debut studio album entitled “Long Live Mexico” included “Oh My God” and “Proud Of Me”.

He named the album after his friend named Mexico who lost his life the same year when Keed was on tour with Trippie Redd.

In May 2019, he released his new song titled “Pull Up”, which features Lil Uzi Vert and YNW Melly. In June 2019, he released his new song “Long Live Mexico” featuring artists like Lil Uzi Vert, Gunna, YNW Melly, Roddy Ricch, and Young Thug.

The album debuted at No. 11 on the Hot Rap Albums Chart and No. 26 on the Billboard 200 and became the highest-charting project of his career.

In July 2019, Keed made guest appearances with Lil Gotit in Hoodrich Pablo Juan’s new song titled “Drip Babies” and he also appeared in Future’s song titled “Undefeated”. Further, Keed dropped a music video for his Long Live Mexico song “HBS” which was directed by Cole Bennett.

In August 2019, the music video single “Churches Peppers” was released on WorldStarHipHop which was a collaborative single of Lil Keed and Guap Tarantino. In September 2019, his song titled “Saliva” and “Swap It Out” was released; the latter featured Lil Duke.

In October 2019, Lil Gotit and Lil Keed’s collaborative music video song titled “Brotherly Love” under Alamo Records. In November 2019, 88GLAM and Lil Keed collaborated to release their song titled “Bankroll” and Keed also released a music video “Snake” for his album Long Live Mexico.

In the same month, he also released a collaborative music video of Young Scooter and Lil Keed, “Trap Museum” under WMG. In December 2019, Lil Keed collaborated with Lil Yachty and Zaytoven and released their music video song titled “Accomplishments”.

Live Performances

On May 11, 2019, Keed performed on the same stage as Young Thug, Lil Wayne, Chief Keef, and Comethazine at the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami, Florida. Later, on September 29, 2019, he was slated to give a performance at the Rolling Loud Festival in Oakland.

Keed performed with Lil Gotit at The Novo Theater in Los Angeles on September 14, 2019. Throughout the performance, fellow rapper Drake was present on stage with Keed, further, Young Thug and Lil Duke also appeared on stage for a while.

Keed performed at the Rolling Loud New York festival on October 12, 2019. On October 13, 2019, he also performed at the A3C Festival in Atlanta. His next performance was at the Mala Luna festival in San Antonio, Texas on October 27, 2019.

Death

On 13 May 2022, the 24-year-old rapper died. The news was confirmed by his brother with the deepest regret, via social media. He wrote, “Can’t believe I saw you die, today brother, I did all my efforts I know what You want me to do and that’s going hard for Mama Daddy Our Brothers Whiteboy and Naychur.”

The cause of his demise is not exactly known the investigation is still going on and the police are also waiting for the post-mortem reports.
