Early Life

Anna Faris was born in Baltimore, Maryland on the 29th of November, 1976. She is the child of Jack and Karen. Her father worked as a sociology professor whereas her mother worked as a special education teacher.

The family used to live in Baltimore due to her father’s work as a professor at Towson University. When Anna was 6, the family returned to Washington and started to live in Edmonds, Washington, where Jack started working at the University of Washington while her mother started teaching at Seaview Elementary School.

Anna also has a sibling, an older brother named Robert who also became a sociologist following the footsteps of their father and worked as a professor at the University of California, Davis.

Anna went to Edmonds-Woodway High School, where she was in the drama club. When she was in high school, she was featured in things such as a frozen yogurt television commercial and a Red Robin burger line training video.

In 1994, following her graduation from high school, Faris kept on her education at the University of Washington, and in 1999, she earned a degree in English literature.

Initially, she didn’t intend to take up a career in acting and was all set to relocate to London, though she changed her mind “at the last minute” and ended up relocating to Los Angeles.

Personal Life

Anna met the actor Ben Indra on the set of the movie titled “Lovers Lane”(1999). The duo started dating, and in June 2004, they tied the knot.

However, in April 2007, Anna filed for divorce which was finalized in February 2008, and according to their divorce agreement, Anna paid an amount of $900,000 to Indra, apart from other things such as property and acting royalties.

When her divorce was in progress, she decided to go for cosmetic surgery and also got breast implants in fact, in her 2017 book titled “Unqualified”, she has covered that decision openly.

In 2007, Faris met the actor Chris Pratt at a table read for the 2011 movie titled “Take Me Home Tonight”, where they portray love interests in each other’s characters. Shortly after they met, the duo started dating.

In late 2008, they announced their engagement and tied the knot in July 2009. The couple welcomed their first child together, a son, Jack, who took birth nine weeks premature in 2012, and as a result, he spent a month in intensive care.

Sadly, in August 2017, the couple separated and filed for divorce in December of the same year. In October 2018, their divorce was finalized.

Pratt and Faris acquired a $3.3 million home in the Hollywood Hills. They listed the home for sale at $4.995 million in 2018. The 4,700-square-foot home includes a turret entry, soaring wood-beamed ceilings, and arched doorways and windows.

Rich oak paneling lines the den, which has a speakeasy-style wet bar. A spa-like bath with a steam room and personalized closets are included in the master bedroom. The home consisted of 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms.

Career

When Faris was young, her parents motivated her to act and when she was 6, she was enrolled in a community drama class for kids. At the age of 9, she made her professional acting debut with a three-month run of the play “Danger: Memory!” at the Seattle Repertory Theater and she earned $250 from that project.

She then also landed in many other productions of “To Kill a Mockingbird” at the Village Theatre in Issaquah, Washington, and productions of “Heidi” and “Our Town”. 

In 2000, Anna booked her major role in the horror-comedy film called “Scary Movie” marking her first starring credit, as prior to that, the projects and productions for which she performed were just either small or supporting roles.

The film became a commercial success and grossed $278 million (US dollars) across the world. Anna received nominations for the Breakthrough Female Performance and Best Kiss awards at the 2001 MTV Movie Awards.

Anna returned to reprise her character as Cindy Campbell in the next three sequels: 2001’s “Scary Movie 2”, 2003’s “Scary Movie 3”, and 2006’s “Scary Movie 4”.

In 2011, Anna also served as executive producer of the rom-com film titled “What’s Your Number?” 

The year 2013 began with Anna appearing in the lead role on the CBS TV series titled “Mom”. The show had shot 122 episodes as of January 2019 which is quite plenty to be eligible for syndication., Anna charged $125,000 for each episode of early seasons.
