Early Life

Jossara Jinaro was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 25, 1973. Her mother relocated to Colombia after she got married to a Colombian diplomat. Since childhood, Jossara liked watching films and aspired to become like “Gilda”.

When she was 5, she began to learn dancing and by the time she turned eight years old, she performed in her first-ever play.

The guerrilla had made her stepfather a hostage and following he was release, the family wanted safety in the U.S. When she was 16, she left her family to follow her dreams and she performed her first professional singing and dancing at the theme park Old Indiana Fun Park there everyone used to identify her as the girl portraying Janet Jackson.

Thereafter, her passion for singing and dancing brought her into a BFA musical theatre program, and later she graduated and was identified as the best actress. 

In Chicago, she got her first agent, and soon after she started working. The reviewers in Chicago used to refer to her as “dynamic and versatile, the ultimate chameleon,” “a classic beauty who fills the stage with heat, passion, and intensity.”

Career

Jossara departed from Chicago to portray the character of Rene, the temptress in “Dark Rapture,” at the American Conservatory Theatre. Following her opening night, an agent came to her and asked to land up in Los Angeles.

After she reached LA, soon Columbia Tri-Star offered her to portray the beautiful and funny Virginia Bustos in the sitcom titled “Viva Vegas.” And she never looked back since then, Jossara has portrayed many strong, positive, and non-traditional characters for Latinas.

Following the made her network debut recurring with the role of Cheech Marin’s smart and driven activist daughter on Judging Amy, Emmy-Award-winning director/producer Christopher Chulack spotted her and she ended up landing on the cast of ER and after that, she appeared alongside Simon Baker on Smith.

The description of her character as Rae “Passions,”, the strong and sexy club owner, received a nomination for the 2006 GLAAD award. In 2009, she returned to Colombia to work on the Novela La Bella Ceci y El Imprudente and came back to Hollywood to work on the new series titled East Los High.

Later, she started to produce her own projects. Jossara has made the film festival rounds with award-winning movies such as Desert Road Kill which brought her an award for best-supporting Actress.

She also appeared in a Rob Zombie Film titled “Devil’s Rejects,” “Havoc,” alongside Anne Hathaway, “Fly Boys,” with Stephen Baldwin, “TenTricks,” with Leah Thompson, Oliver Stone’s “World Trade Center,” alongside Maggie Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena, and most recently, she was seen in Lion Gate’s urban hip-hop film titled “Go For It!” where she portrayed Loli, the queen bee of the dance floor.

Jossara expressed her passion to do live theatre and she portrayed the female lead recently in “Firehouse” by consulting producer Academy Award winner Robert Moresco and in “The Birthday Present” helmed by Academy Award winner Jonathan Sanger.

Personal Life

Jossara Jinaro got married to Matt Bogado and the duo has two children together, Liam and Emrys.

Death

On April 27, 2022, Jossara Jinaro passed away due to cancer at the age of 48. Her husband, Matt Bogado announced her demise while describing her as having ‘the most beautiful, compassionate soul who wouldn’t take no for an answer.

He wrote “Jossara was an amazing wife, mother, artist, and friend. She had the most beautiful, kind soul and wouldn’t take no for an answer,” adding further “Even in her last moments, she was still fighting. She is now resting in peace and will be remembered forever.”

He said, “She had the most lovely, compassionate soul, and she wouldn’t take no for an answer.”  “Still fighting, even in her final moments, she was a fighter. ‘She is finally at rest and will be remembered for the rest of her days,’” Bogado added.

He further added in a Facebook post writing “Myself, Liam, and Emrys will miss her so deeply, although we know she is in our hearts and guiding us every step of the way.”
