Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber married in 2018, much to the surprise of many fans. The pair will celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary later this year.
Justin recently spoke out about his early years with Hailey, admitting that he suffered an “emotional collapse.”
Justin Bieber previously stated that their first year of marriage was ‘very difficult.’
There is a popular adage that the first year of marriage is particularly trying. And Justin appears to concur, as he revealed in an August 2021 interview with GQ.
“The first year of marriage was really difficult,” he recalled, “because there was so much going on, returning to the trauma.” Simply put, there was a lack of trust.
There are many things that you don’t want to reveal to the person you’re with just because they’re frightening. You don’t want to scare people away with the statement, ‘I’m afraid.'” Justin also stated that he was walking “on eggshells” at the time.

Justin recently discussed the early years of his marriage in a new interview with Ebro Darden of Apple Music.
“I remember when I first married, I had a small mental breakdown because I believed marriage would solve all my problems, but it didn’t,” Justin explained (via People). “It was just a reflection of the fact that guy, you’re a bit of a hypocrite.”

“You want your wife to do something that you’re not doing, and it’s hard sometimes to look in the mirror and realize, man, maybe you’re not the person you thought you were.”
He said, “You want your wife to do something you’re not doing.” And this is entirely due to trauma and life circumstances.”
How Justin and Hailey Bieber improved their relationship
Justin and Hailey have both spoken about how they overcame obstacles together.
For instance, they are both devout, and Justin emphasized that his religion enables him to forgive himself. “Just the concept that I’m forgiven and that he’s taking me through this road, day by day, allows me to improve and not be too hard on myself,” he explained to Darden.
In a March 2021 interview with Elle, Hailey revealed that she and Justin are still learning about one another and figuring out how to operate together.
“I always discover new things about him, myself, and our relationship,” she explained. “Do we have little quarrels and issues that we must resolve from time to time?” Of course, it never feels like work since I adore him. I imagine myself with him in perpetuity.”
Justin told GQ that he is thankful to have stability in his marriage to Hailey, particularly given his childhood star upbringing.
