Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, is a South Korean fantasy melodrama TV series that is adapted from the Chinese novel titled Bu Bu Jing Xin. The series is created by Cho Yoon-young and Kim Kyu-Tae served as the director of the series.
It stars Lee Joon-gi, Lee Ji-eun and Kang Ha-neul. The series premiered on SBS on August 29, 2016, and ended on November 1, 2016, with a total of twenty episodes. The series received lots of love and positive reviews from critics and audiences as well.

Scarlet Heart Ryeo has been sold to the Chinese broadcasting network Youku in exchange for over $400,000 each episode, aggregating more than $8 million, making it one of the most expensive TV series ever sold.
As per a research institute, Good Data Corporation, the show has been the most talked-about drama of the year the following Love in the Moonlight and Descendants of the Sun.
As of yet, there is no official announcement made about the renewal of Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo for a second season, however, the cast members from the first season of the series have expressed interest in the second season.
The first season didn’t leave any major cliffhanger however, fans still expect to see more classic romantic bonds between IU and Lee Joon Gi. In a conversation with Lee Joon Gi, IU stated that “There is no reason not to do it.” She stated that she isn’t certain whether all the other actors would return. IU further continued “But if you’re asking me about my opinion only, there is no reason to not do it,” she continued. Lee Joon Gi then teased, “I was afraid you’d say, ‘Why should I?’”
Currently, there are no indications that make us think that Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo will be renewed for a second season in the future. However, some fans think that Netflix could choose the show for their viewers worldwide.

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo Season 1 Synopsis
The series follows a 25-year-old 21st-century woman, Go Ha-jin (portrayed by Lee Ji-Eun) who is sent back in time to the Goryeo Dynasty amidst a total solar eclipse.
She gets up in the body of Hae Soo in the year 941. Hae Soo is amongst the many princes of the reigning Wang family, during the rule of King Taejo.
Previously, she started having feelings for the gentle and warm-hearted eighth Prince Wang Wook (portrayed by Kang Ha-neul), however, she later starts a relationship with Wang So (portrayed by Lee Joon-gi), the terrifying fourth Prince, who conceals his face using a mask and is provided with the disparaging label of “wolf-dog”.
As the story moves further, Hae Soo discovers herself unintentionally involved in the politics of the palace and the rivalry among the princes, since they battle for the throne.
So, it is clear that though it has been almost six months since the first season of Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo was aired, there is still not a single word uttered from the creators and it is neither denied as well that makes fans keep up with their expectations.
