In 2020, DaBaby slapped a female fan at a concert in Tampa, Florida, when he was making his way to the stage which led to the crowd hooting him. He then exited the venue even without performing a single song, and later, he stated that he slapped the woman as her phone was too close to his face whilst recording with the flash on.

He said, “I’m very sorry that there was a female on the other end of that flashlight on their phone. But you know, keep in mind, I couldn’t see you because you got the flash this close to me.” Last year, in July, at Miami’s Rolling Loud Festival in July 2021, DaBaby made comments that some noted to be homophobic, and his planned appearances at Lollapalooza, the Governors Ball Music Festival, Parklife Festival, Day N Vegas, Austin City Limits Festival, iHeartRadio Music Festival, and Music Midtown were called off.
