DMX Update: Rapper Luenell RIP Message Sparks Death Rumors as Rapper Remains on Life Support

Luenell Campbell is a well-known comedian and actress in the entertainment world. Tollette, Arkansas was her hometown, where she was born in March of 1959.

She’s appeared in Snoop Dog’s Bad Girls of Comedy and Stand-up in Stilettos, as well as on The Middle and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia as a stand-up comic.

After writing on Instagram that DMX had passed away, the comedian generated rumors that the star had died, leading to the trend of the hashtag #RIPDMX.

She later apologized for her mistake and explained she meant that- given the rapper’s critical condition “that’s what I call ‘gone'”, adding: “I’m sorry to all #DMX.”

She has a one-year-old daughter and lives in Los Angeles.

Who is DMX?

Rapper and actor Earl Simmons, better known as DMX (“Dark Man X”), passed away on April 9, 2021, at the age of 48. It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, his debut album was released in 1998 to both critical and commercial acclaim and sold 251,000 copies in its first week of availability.

Party Up (Up in Here)” was DMX’s biggest-selling single of 1999 when it was released on his album,… And Then There Was X. “Where the Hood At?” and “X Gon’ Give It to Ya” were also commercially successful for him in 2003.

For the first time in Billboard 200 history, he debuted five albums at the top of the chart.  There were nearly 74 million records sold worldwide in DMX’s career.

These include Romeo Must Die and Cradle 2 the Grave. DMX also appeared in Belly and Romeo Must Die. On the BET cable network, he starred in the reality show DMX: Soul of a Man, which ran largely in 2006. E.A.R.L.: The Autobiography of DMX was published in 2003 by DMX and is a collection of his personal thoughts.

On Thursday night, April 8, DMX’s manager issued a video clarifying that the rapper is still on life support after fake rumors of DMX’s death spread on social media (US time).

He was taken to White Plains Hospital in New York City’s intensive care unit on Friday (April 2) after suffering a heart arrest and is now 50-year-old rapper Earl Simmons.

According to DMX’s manager Steve Rifkind, in an Instagram video posted, the rapper is still alive and has requested his followers to stop circulating rumors about his whereabouts.

It is true that he is being kept alive on life support, but “please: it’s not helping anyone seeing these bogus rumors,” stated the man.

“Let the family relax for a night. You’ll be hearing a statement from the family sometime tomorrow… the only thing I ask is to stop with the rumors.”

After comedian and actress Luenell, a friend of the rapper, uploaded a message to her Instagram story implying his death, the hashtag #RIPDMX started trending in the United States and tributes to DMX began to appear.

Later, she removed the story from her Facebook page and wrote a new one in which she clarified what she meant by saying that DMX had “gone.”

In response to Luenell’s initial post on social media, streetwear and culture company SAINT sent a tweet that said DMX had died at the age of 50. The hashtag continued to rise in popularity as a result of the viral nature of the tweet. In a show of respect for DMX and his family, SAINT later removed the tweet.
