A Very British Scandal is a historical drama television miniseries written and created by Sarah Phelps and directed by Anne Sewitsky. The 2021 series stars Claire Foy and Paul Bettany in the lead roles. Blueprint Pictures picked up the series for production and it also produced the 2018 British come-drama A Very English Scandal.
The first season of the series aired on December 26, 2021, on BBC One in the U.K. and after nearly four months it was made available to watch on Amazon Prime Video on April 22, 2022. A Very British Scandal revolves around the high-profile divorce between the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, which led to the latter being worsened by the failure of her marriage because of the press and people she was surrounded by.
The case had allegations of counterfeit, robbery, abuse, drug consumption, secret recording, bribery, and an explicit polaroid photo, and these all threatened to damage the Duchess’ esteem.

With this case, the series features the social and political climate of post-war Britain, looking at behaviors towards women and asking if institutional prejudice was extensive during that time.
