The relationship of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky has been speculated to be, well, rocky lately though the couple has generally been the picture-perfect portrayal of a power couple.
So, here’s a look at their journey from being best friends to parents-to-be, how their bond passed from having “love on the brain” to prospectively “unfaithful.”
2012: the Start of a Musical Collaboration
In 2012, Rihanna and Rocky began partnering for the first time on songs together. “Cockiness (Love It)” was the first song that they kicked off and in the same year, Rocky performed on the track with Rihanna at MTV’s Video Music Awards.
While the performance was on, the rapper playfully touched Rihanna and in fact, he kissed her on the neck. Although, at that moment, they declined their relationship and confirmed that they were not more than friends.
2013: Glimpse in New York Sparks Romance Speculations
In 2013, Rihanna and Rocky were spotted getting close to each other at Soho House in Manhattan which led everyone to speculate about if they were in a romantic relationship.
During that time, sources told Page Six that “They were playing pool and hanging by the stairwell. They weren’t kissing or anything, but they were looking very friendly.”
Although, Rihanna’s reputation took back on questions if the duo were an item, “Cause they were playing pool? Hmm.”
Both of them had been spotted going out together a lot at the time since Rocky joined Rihanna on the North American leg of her Diamonds World Tour as her opening act.
January 2020: Relationship Rumors Heat Up Again
Years later the duo was associated with other people in public, yet again, Rihanna and Rocky sparked rumors about their relationship following a source that reported that the pair were spotted sharing a hotel suite together.
However, as the appearance was so early following Rihanna’s separation from billionaire Hassan Jameel, a source stated that the “Umbrella” singer was “reluctant to put a label on it as it’s so soon after Hassan.”
November 2020: They Went Public in New York
In November 2020, Rihanna and Rocky made an appearance for the first time to announce their relationship by heading off for a public date night in New York. During that time, they were seen with a group of friends at the Beatrice Inn.
December 2020: They Went on Holiday Together
Towards late 2020, Rocky went to visit Rihanna’s native Barbados for the holiday season which in fact looked like giving more confirmation that the duo was actually a couple.
Although, during the time reports kept on to decline that they were in an official relationship.
May 2021: Rocky Talks About His Feeling for Rihanna for the First Time
This year, in January, the pair made the announcement about Rihanna’s pregnancy by sharing a snowy photoshoot in Rocky’s native Harlem.
Rihanna looked spectacular in the pictures with her baby bump wearing a single-buttoned pink Chanel puffer coat from the fashion house’s fall 1996 collection while Rock appeared cool with a Carhartt jean jacket on with a cream cable-knit hoodie and black leather pants.
March 2022: Rihanna’s Diamond Ring Led to Engagement Speculations
At the time, Rihanna was spotted wearing a large diamond ring on her left hand during many paparazzi captures.
Although, when she was questioned if the rock signified she had received a proposal from Rocky, she coyly answered a photographer, “This old ring? You act like you ain’t never seen this ring.”
April 2022: Rihanna and Rocky Are Hit With Breakup Speculations
The internet was stormed with speculations about Rocky infidelity on Rihanna with Amina Muaddi who is a shoe designer.
The rumors started to circulate following writer Louis Pisano, whom Interview Magazine once named “Instagram’s Messiest Fashion Influencer” confirmed on Twitter, “Rihanna & ASAP Rocky have split.”
He said about Muaddi, “ASAP & Amina is not new though as she was seeing him years ago and also collaborated with him on a collection of shoes.”
Although, a source informed Page Six, “They’re fine. It’s not true.”
In fact, Muaddi, herself, later declined the relationship with a post on her Instagram Stories.
In an interview with GQ, Rocky talked about his relationship for the first time and he told the magazine that Rihanna was the “love of [his] life” and “the one.”
He lovingly said further, “I think when you know, you know.”
