Scherzinger was born as Nicole Prascovia Elikolani Valiente in Honolulu, Hawaii, on June 29, 1978. She is the child of Rosemary Elikolani Frederick and Alfonso Valiente.
Her father was of Filipino descent whereas her mother was of Native Hawaiian, Ukrainian and Polish descent. Her father left the family when she was just 2 years old and then her mother got married to Gary Scherzinger, who adopted Nicole, and eventually, she took his surname.
