He attended three independent schools for boys in London: Redcliffe School, Sussex House School, and the City of London School.
After the first Harry Potter film came out, going to school became tough for him since some fellow mates turned hostile, however, he mentions that they were just attempting to “have a crack at the kid that plays Harry Potter” instead of acting out of envy. Since his acting career started to make his schedule really hectic, he kept his education on through on-set tutors.
He has confessed to not being a very bright student, thinking school futile and considering the work “really difficult”. He got A grades in the three AS level exams that he took in 2006, but was determined to have a break from studies and didn’t go to university.
One of the reasons behind his decision to halt education as he had already discovered his aspiration of becoming an actor and screenwriter, and also that it would be tough for him to take a usual college experience.
Radcliffe divides his time between homes in London and Manhattan, New York City. Since 2012, he has been in a relationship with American actress Erin Darke. The duo met on the set of Kill Your Darlings.

In 2020, Radcliffe featured as the guest on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, and there, he talked about his misuse of alcohol when he was a teenager and his decision to be teetotal, and the way his parents supported him and residing in his native England aided him to deal with fame.
In 2012, he said about his faiths “There was never [religious] faith in the house. I think of myself as being Jewish and Irish, despite the fact that I’m English.”
He has stated that his family is “Christmas tree Jews” and added “I’m an atheist, but I’m very proud of being Jewish. It means I have a good work ethic, and you get Jewish humor and you’re allowed to tell Jewish jokes.
For instance: did you hear how copper wire was invented? Two Jews fighting over a penny. And so on.”. In a 2009 interview, he said that he was an atheist and added, “I’m very relaxed about [being an [atheist].
I don’t preach my atheism, but I have a huge amount of respect for people like Richard Dawkins who do. Anything he does on television, I will watch.” However, in 2012, he stated “I’m an atheist, and a militant atheist when religion starts impacting on legislation.” In 2019, he explained himself as an “agnostic leaning toward atheism”.
In 2010, he was regarded to be the wealthiest teenager in England, and in the same year, he has named the 6th highest-paid Hollywood male star and ranked number 5 on Forbes’ December list of Hollywood’s highest-earning actors with a film grossing $780 million, majorly because of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows came out that year.
