Childhood and Career
Holland was born in Kingston upon Thames, London, on June 1, 1996. Nicola Holland, his mother, is a photographer, and Dominic Holland, his father, is a comedian and novelist. Holland is the eldest of four brothers and sisters.
He attended Wimbledon’s Roman Catholic preparatory school, Donhead, and Wimbledon College, before enrolling at Croydon’s BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology.
He began dancing in a hip hop lesson at Nifty Feet Dance School in Wimbledon. Holland was discovered by choreographer Lynne Page, an associate of “Billy Elliot the Musical” creator Peter Darling, performing with his dance school at the 2006 Richmond Dance Festival.
As Billy’s best friend Michael, Holland made his West End debut in “Billy Elliot the Musical” on June 28, 2008, following eight auditions and two years of preparation. On September 8, 2008, he made his debut as Billy, to which he garnered great acclaim.
In 2009, he made his television debut on ITV1’s “The Feel Good Factor.” Holland visited Prime Minister Gordon Brown at 10 Downing Street in March 2010, among four other performers who portrayed Billy Elliot as part of the fifth-anniversary festivities for “Billy Elliot the Musical.”
Holland was also cast in the lead role for the fifth-anniversary show on March 31, 2010. On May 29, 2010, his regular rotation as Billy and three other performers ended.
Transition to Film
Holland made his cinematic debut in 2011 as the voice of Sho in the British adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s “Arrietty.” In September 2012, he debuted his feature film at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of “The Impossible.”

“Spider-Man: Homecoming,” his second MCU film, was released in July 2017. The picture was a critical and economic triumph, grossing $117 million in its first weekend and over $800 million worldwide.
Holland won a Guinness World Record for being the youngest actor to portray a title role in the MCU for his performance.
Holland earned an estimated $500,000 for his appearance in the film, with a potential large bonus dependent on the film’s performance bringing his profits to at least $1.5 million.
