Early Life

Aniston was born in Los Angeles, California on February 11, 1969. She is the daughter of actor John Aniston and actress Nancy Dow. She has two half-brothers: John Melick, and Alex Aniston. Telly Savalas, who is one of her father’s best friends, became her godfather.

She relocated to New York City when she was a child. In spite of the fact that her father’s career in television led to discouraging her from watching television, however, she got mediums around the restriction. At the age of 6, she started to attend a Waldorf school. When she was 9, her parents divorced.

At the age of 11, she found her passion for acting at the Waldorf school and she attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, in Manhattan, where she joined the drama society in the school and Anthony Abeson was her drama teacher there.

In her 20s, following she was treated, her perspective towards life completely changed. She said, “I thought I wasn’t smart. I just couldn’t retain anything. Now I had this great discovery. I felt like all of my childhood trauma-dies, tragedies, dramas were explained.”

She made donations to Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign and participated in a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton during her 2016 presidential campaign. She supported Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

In 1998, Aniston was in a relationship with Brad Pitt which received extensive coverage from the media, and on July 29, 2000, after dating for two years, the couple got married, in a lavish Malibu wedding.

Their marriage was identified as a rare Hollywood success for a few years, until they announced their separation on January 7, 2005, and on October 2, their divorce was finalized.

The news media outlet guessed that Pitt had cheated on Aniston with his Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-star Angelina Jolie during their divorce proceeding and the duo actually had a relationship soon after the separation.

In 2015, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Aniston said about the divorce and he said, “Nobody did anything wrong… It was just like, sometimes things [happen].”

Amidst reports in 2005 that the reason behind their divorce was Aniston’s reluctance to plan a family and conceive with Pitt, she said, “I’ve never in my life said I didn’t want to have children.

I did and I do and I will! … I would never give up that experience for a career.” She stated that the separation from Pitt led her in reaching out to her mother, Nancy, with whom she had been an outcast for around ten years.

On a television show, her mother had opened up regarding her daughter and wrote 1999’s From Mother and Daughter to Friends: A Memoir. She said that she had been shattered by the demise of her longtime therapist, the one whom she credits for her work that helped in making her split from Pitt easier.

She stated she didn’t have any guilt about her relationship with Pitt. She claimed it had been “very intense” and “a beautiful, complicated relationship”.

In May 2011, Aniston started a relationship with actor, director, and screenwriter Justin Theroux and in January next year, the couple spent around $22 million to acquire a home in the Bel-Air neighborhood of Los Angeles.

In 2012, the duo got engaged after nearly 3 years, in 2015, they got married at their home. In late 2015, the pair announced their separation.

Aniston debuted in off-Broadway productions like “For Dear Life and Dancing on Checker’s Grave,” and used to do part-time jobs to support herself financially including working as a telemarketer, waitress, and bike messenger.

She landed an uncredited small role in 1998 in the critically panned science-fiction adventure film titled Mac and Me. In 1999, she featured on The Howard Stern Show as a spokesmodel for Nutrisystem and returned back to Los Angeles.

In 1990, she landed her first regular television role on Molloy and featured in Ferris Bueller which is a television adaptation of the film titled Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986), both the series were canceled rapidly.

She appeared as a teenager heading off to summer camp in the 1990 made-for-television film titled Camp Cucamonga, in which she portrayed a spoiled daughter, and later she appeared as a revengeful leprechaun in the 1993 horror film titled Leprechaun.
