Kendrick Lamar Childhood
Kendrick Lamar, previously known as Kendrick Lamar Duckworth, was born in Compton, California, on June 17, 1987. While still in elementary school, he began rapping, inspired by his idols Tupac Shakur and Dr. Dre.
Lamar’s parents emigrated from Chicago’s south side to Compton three years before his birth, as his father was deeply involved in gang activity and his mother had issued a request for them to flee together.

Private Life
In 2015, Lamar proposed to Whitney Alford. They welcomed their first kid in 2019.
Lemar is a former cannabis user who has since turned to Christianity and is a committed Christian. Lamar claimed during the 2012 presidential election that he would not vote. He then altered this position in the days preceding the election, stating that he intended to vote for Barack Obama.
