The show assumes a level of friendship between Stede Bonnet and Blackbeard that does not correspond to the known facts (to say nothing of the romance that develops between them in the penultimate episode).
The remainder of the series can completely abandon historical accuracy to provide a happy ending for Stede and Ed, as the show has done in the past.
Further, the fate of Jim (who was kidnapped by Blackbeard and his men) and the question of whether or not Lucius miraculously survived his seeming death at the hands of Blackbeard after being cast overboard will have to be addressed in Our Flag Means Death season 2.

Our Flag Means Death season 2 may not be available for viewing for some months if the show gets renewed for a second season.
The availability of Taikia Waititi, who is in high demand as a screenwriter, producer, and director and is currently working on a Time Bandits television series for Apple TV, an untitled Star Wars film, and the post-production of Thor: Love & Thunder, among other projects, will most likely be the most significant hurdle to overcome.
Even if Waititi is instantly available for production, it is unlikely that the second season of Our Flag Means Death will be published on HBO Max until the fall of 2023.
