Early Life

Jackson was born on June 11, 1978, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He is the son of John and Fiona. His father is from Texas whereas his mother is a casting director. He has a younger sister along with two elder half brothers named Jonathan and Lyman.

He went to attend Ideal Mini School and thereafter he changed his school and attended Kitsilano Secondary School. He studied high school with actor Ryan Reynolds.

Jackson said in an interview that he was banished from his high school once due to The Jon Stewart Show: “[The show] played, at least where I grew up, at 1:30 in the morning, so I would stay up at night to watch Jon Stewart, but then I’d be too tired—or too lazy—to go to school in the morning. So, I’d just take the first couple of classes off, ’cause I wanted to be fresh when I got there.”

Personal Life

Jackson and his co-star Katie Holmes from Dawson’s Creek were in a relationship and the actress had confirmed that he was her first love.

Then, in 2006, the actor started seeing German actress Diane Kruger but the duo parted their ways after spending 10 years together in 2016. In 2018, he confirmed his relationship with actress Jodie Turner-Smith and the couple married in 2019 December and welcomed their daughter in April 2020. 

He has a childhood home in California and earlier he used to stay in Wilmington, North Carolina, where the shooting for Dawson’s Creek was done, and in New York where filming for Fringe was done. He relocated to Vancouver in 2009 to film 4 seasons of the series.

Career Details

Jackson began his acting career with a small role in the 1991 film Crooked Hearts. In the subsequent year, he portrayed the character of Charlie in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

He also featured in Kevin Williamson’s Dawson’s Creek as Pacey Witter. Furthermore, he also featured in many films along with Cruel Intentions, The Laramie Project, The Safety of Objects, The Skulls, and a small role in the remake of Ocean’s Eleven.

Right after the end of Dawson’s Creek in 2003, he landed the lead role in movies besides Harvey Keitel, Dennis Hopper, and Donald Sutherland. The actor relocated to the United Kingdom in 2005 and made his stage debut on the London West End alongside Patrick Stewart in David Mamet’s two-man play, A Life in the Theatre.

The play turned out to be successful and ran from February to April 2005. He said that he would think of getting back to the stage, to give a try to Broadway. The next movie in which he appeared was Emilio Estevez’s Bobby.

Jackson also appeared in Dr. Death which is inspired by the podcast of the same title where he played the character of Christopher Duntsch who is a neurosurgeon.

This year, Jackson is all set to appear in the lead role of Paramount plus series Fatal Attraction with Lizzy Caplan, which is based on the 1987 erotic psychological thriller film of the same title.
