Although very little is known as of now regarding the upcoming action-adventure game “System Shock 3,” except for the truth that one of Tencent’s game development studios is actively involved and working on the development of the game and we know that the franchise’s fans are excited to know more about the upcoming game.
However, in the latest interview with Warren Spector, some new information was revealed regarding its undergoing production.
Earlier, back in 2015, the announcement for System Shock 3 was made and Warren Spector and his panel of legendary game developers, Otherside Entertainment were supposed to be working on the game’s production.
Spector was considered as the best fit for the project since he holds immense experience of producing enthralling sim classics like Deus Ex and Thief, but it appears like he is not working over the project any further.
During his recent interview with VentureBeat, Warren Spector talked about the acquisition of Otherside Entertainment by Tencent in 2020, and he made it clear that the studio is no more involved in the development of System Shock 3 certainly.
Currently, the game is being looked after entirely by Tencent, as confirmed by Spector, however, no details were given there about which of the several different game studios or publishers could be involved in the project at this time.
System Shock 3 Out of Otherside Entertainment’s Reach
Strangely, it was also revealed by Spector that Otherside Entertainment isn’t also involved in this game for a long time, in 2019. He also revealed that the project was handed over to Tencent somewhat too early.
And with this, it is clear that the project was already not under Spector and Otherside Entertainment both, in 2020, when the development reports regarding System Shock 3 originally emerged.
As per Warren Spector, his panel has been involved in the development of an engaging sim project since, though he was somewhere sure that System Shock 3, particularly, was beyond the reach of Otherside Entertainment, and in fact, he said that this was “good for everybody.”
Whilst there are a lot of dilemmas about the present production status of System Shock 3 in particular, Nightdive Studios’ sequel of the original System Shock is scheduled to come out this year.
Although, there were certain problems with this project as well and it appears to be far away than the continuation of the series, and the fans are eagerly waiting for the launch.
With the appearance of legendary SHODAN being one of the terrifying gaming AIs, System Shock titles have been considered as some of the amazing examples of engaging sim games historically, besides Deus Ex, Thief, and a number of others.
However, the development of System Shock 3 is still undergoing, it is yet to be witnessed if the final outcome would do justice with the brand it has created, particularly now that it is certain that Warren Spector and his panel are not part of the project.
