Town of God is an action-dark fantasy anime television series that is based on the South Korean manhwa written and illustrated by S.I.U.
The first season of the anime series came out amidst the start of the pandemic on April 1, 2020, and ended on June 24, 2020, with a total of 13 episodes.
The series was directed by Takashi Sano, written by Erika Yoshida, and produced by Joseph Chou. The production for the first season was already wrapped up before the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic.
But then also the anime underwent many obstacles till the premiere. The series received a lot of positive reviews from the viewers as well as critics. The series has an amazing rating of 7.8 out of 10.
Even after the series was loved by audiences there has been no word about its renewal for the second season and fans have been hoping for official confirmation since then. Here’s what we know so far about Tower of God Season 2.
Is Tower of God Renewed for Season 2?
Unfortunately, there has been no announcement about the renewal of the series for season 2. Although, it has been reported by animator Yoshihiro Takeda that a follow-up was already underway.
But let us make it clear that there is no authentication to this since the sequel hasn’t been announced yet officially.
Furthermore, it has also been heard that in order to animate the second season of Tower of God, the animation studio “Telecom Animation Film” has canceled the work on “Don’t Toy with Me.”
Taking into consideration the popularity the show received, we can expect a second season but we will have to wait until the official announcement.
There is plenty of source material that can be taken into to develop the second season of the Tower of God. The webtoon is still left enough that we can still have six seasons of the series. The manhwa has a total of 520 chapters.
Although, these chapters have just been put together in eight volumes by Young Com. In the coming years, the story will keep publishing several volumes.
Therefore, only the initial 78 chapters have been covered in the first season which means there are still 442 chapters left to cover in the subsequent season.
Tower of God Season 2 Storyline
Well, we can expect the story to continue where the first season of Tower of God left us.
In the first season, the story revolves around a teenage boy named Twenty-Fifth Bam. He has lived most of his underneath a mysterious and massive Tower.
His friend named Rachel also spent most of her life beneath the same tower. Although, Bam took the decision to go inside the tower so that he can reunite with Rachel.
When he gets inside the tower, he discovers the whole grouping of the place. This involved Regulars, Rankers, and the ten Great Families. He learns that Rachel is on the top of the tower.
Therefore, the real ultimate mission started. In the last episode of the series, we get to see the real face of Rachel. We saw that she had thrown Bam down from the tower.
But anyhow Bam managed to survive the fall and decided that he was determined to keep climbing even when he was betrayed by his friend. Therefore, he went on to look for all the answers and treasures independently.
The story of the second season will probably begin from the 79th chapter of the manhwa. In fact, Rachel wasn’t the culprit of the offense. Rather, she was bound to organize the events in such a manner that it appeared like Bam was no longer alive for the Jahad family.
The second season will revolve around Princess Yuri’s arrival. We will see the young royal entering the castle of Jahad. This will start the story since Yuri is the only person who hasn’t believed the death of Bam.
Hence, she will attempt to provoke her family regarding this. Above all, the second season will also bring a new competitor named Ja Wangnan, who is attempting to get past the twentieth floor.
Tower of God Season 2 Release Date
Though there isn’t any official confirmation about the premiere date for the second of the series if it is under production currently, we can expect it to premiere this year or early 2023. But these are just speculations and we will have to wait until official announcements.
