Gilded Age Season 2 Release Date Status Confirmed

The Gilded Age is set to return. HBO has renewed Julian Fellowes‘ critically acclaimed historical drama Downton Abbey for a second season.

The series launch on January 24 was HBO’s strongest Monday night debut since Chernobyl.

Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Denée Benton, Taissa Farmiga, Blake Ritson, Simon Jones, Harry Richardson, Thomas Cocquerel, and Jack Gilpin feature in the nine-episode drama series, which is executive produced by Cynthia Nixon and Christine Baranski. Season one will conclude on March 21.

The show, a co-production of HBO and Universal Television, is an epic drama about the rich giants of 1880s New York City.

Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson) moved from rural Pennsylvania to New York City in 1882 upon her father’s death to live with her fully old money aunts Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) and Ada Brook (Cynthia Nixon).

Accompanied by Peggy Scott (Denée Benton), an aspiring writer seeking a fresh start, Marian becomes embroiled in a social conflict between one of her aunts, a scion of the old money set, and her phenomenally wealthy neighbors, a ruthless railroad tycoon and his ambitious wife, George (Morgan Spector) and Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon).

When Marian is exposed to a world on the verge of modernity, she must decide whether to follow established social standards or carve her way.

Fellowes developed, wrote, and executive produced The Gilded Age, alongside Gareth Neame and David Crockett. Directors and executive producers are Michael Engler and Salli Richardson-Whitfield, with Sonja Warfield serving as writer and co-executive producer.
